Experience Details
The beautiful Fuji Five Lakes area in Yamanashi Prefecture offers a space to relax and a place to enjoy adventure activities, but rest assured that the food in Yamanashi is also delicious. For example, tempura, udon, and takoyaki are all tasty and quintessential Japanese foods. But, what if you were to make these dishes at a traditional Japanese guesthouse, while wearing a traditional samurai costume? That’s right! Why not join this Samurai Costume Cooking Class, where you’ll make tempura, udon, and takoyaki, plus have the opportunity to wear a samurai costume! During this Samurai Costume Cooking Class, you’ll be cooking in a beautiful Japanese guesthouse, located in the Yamanashi Prefecture town of Fujiyoshida. Not only is the guesthouse filled with traditional Japanese decor and old town architecture, but it’s also got stunning views of Mount Fuji, so you can soak up nature and nostalgia while you cook. You’ll also have the chance to wear a Japanese samurai costume, or else you can try on a traditional yukata or hakama as well. Either way, you’ll be able to take some amazing photos (with Mount Fuji, too, on a clear day!) You’ll make a total of 3 different Japanese dishes during this Samurai Costume Cooking Class. This class includes learning how to make crunchy tempura using seafood or vegetables, delicious udon noodles, and molten-hot octopus balls called takoyaki! With tips and tricks on Japanese cooking, you’ll be a cooking samurai in no time! After you’ve finished cooking, you’ll sit down to enjoy your triple set of delicious Japanese creations and enjoy the traditional atmosphere of the guesthouse. Finally, complete the meal with a complimentary sake tasting session, where you can taste some amazing sake that’s locally brewed in the Yamanashi Prefecture.
