We were a group of 12 people which felt too many for one young guide to be able to give his full attention. The guide was a student in his early 20s. He took us to 3 places, 1st for food where we sat on the floor (traditional) then 2 bars close to each other for sake tasting then a karaoke bar.
Be careful food and drinks not included in this tour so I would recommend you discuss how you want to split the bill at the beginning. Some participants may drink more than others and wouldn’t be fair to divide the bill equally.
If you can afford it, choose a private tour so everything can be tailored to your liking.

At every stop, his knowledge of Kyoto’s history provided an informative glimpse into this great city. Also his knowledge and passion for food and local culture shone through. From indulging in melt-in-your-mouth wagyu beef and flavorful bonito tataki to savoring delicate tofu appetizers and fresh sashimi, each dish was a culinary delight. Andres expertly guided us through the bustling streets of Gion, introducing us to hidden gems and authentic flavors at every turn. The regional Nihonshu tasting was the perfect finale to an evening filled with delicious discoveries. Andres' knowledge, warmth, and enthusiasm made this tour an absolute highlight of our trip. Highly recommended for anyone eager to explore Kyoto's hidden food scene beyond the tourist hotspots!

A wonderful experience! Our guide, Angelita was knowledgeable about the area and very enthusiastic! He took us to some amazing spots. He also recommended an awesome karaoke place that also had darts. Would 100/10 recommend! The food was delicious too!
