We completed a wonderful Two Markets, Two Continents food tour today. Our guide Defne was absolutely lovely. She knew so much about the city, its history - and, of course, the history of Istanbul's food! She took us to lots of little out-of-the way places we would never have found on our own and introduced us to an enormous variety of dishes that were tasty, fresh and fabulous. Our group of 5 from New Zealand, (together with Patsi from the US and Kylie from Australia) had a most enjoyable, informative and tasty time with Gonca, our guide. Gonca paced our tour perfectly and we were able to sample a broad range of foods, with lots of information relating to their history and place in Turkish cuisine.
