Dara was so nice and a really good guy explaining all the process to make the rice wine and all the different flavours. We knew we were going to do a nice experience but Dara make it really amazing.

Sombai gives a whole other meaning to "some rice please". This rice does not need to be accompanied by Amok or Lok Lak. Sombai is the pure and flavorful essence every rice kernel has at its core, which it did not know they had it in them. Thank you, Luuk. We have read this more than once. You began with the name and ended with the people, and everything in between is the part that is hard to explain in an hour, which may be why the hour turned into two. The rice wine is not hidden under fruit and spices, it is given a year to become what it already had in it, and you picked up on that. Calling the step away from tradition something other than blasphemy is generous, and it is how we think of it too. It was a strange and lovely thing to find we had walked the same streets and only met here, and to spend an afternoon laughing with you both. Despite the shop being mid renovation, I am glad we opened it anyway. Enjoy the bottles. Groetjes.
