The history talk with Pino is exceptional. His knowledge of the battle of Monte Cassino comes from not just years of research but also years of interacting with first, veterans of the campaign and now their family members. The Hotel La Pace is more like a museum with artifacts, letters and pictures lining the walls. Excellent overview
Pino is not just an excellent host but also an extremely knowledgeable storyteller/historian. Thru pictures, videos and his descriptions, the Battle for Monte Cassino became clear and understandable. Nice Gustav Wine and snacks made for a perfect ending to his fascinating presentation. If you are planning a visit to the Abbey don’t miss this opportunity to know all about it before you go. Truly excellent.
Informative and enjoyable overview of the 4 battles for Monte Cassino
Pino's knowledge and personal connection to the events of what took place in Cassino in 1944 are fascinating. We really enjoyed it, especially my mum, who's dad was present in the second battle. The wine was also very good.

Great local knowledge and interesting discussion!
This evening with Pino Valente was very interesting and a little bit different. He is very knowledgeable about the Cassino battles and provided a unique insight to the war in Italy from an Italian perspective. Nice cheese and wine, many interesting artefacts, and Pino and his team were able to give us much valuable local (topographical) information about places we wanted to visit, and the locations mentioned by my father in his detailed war diary from 1944..
