Our tour guide, Kari, was amazing! We were the only ones so it was like a private tour. We learned so much about the city and Icelandic life. Way better than better than any cruise ship sponsored trips we’ve been on!!
I joined this January evening tour hosted by the charismatic Runar (hope that's a correct spelling) . He has a friendly manner and gives lots of information without being overbearing. We covered quite a lot of history and he is open to questions. The food was very good, the restaurant at the botanical gardens was excellent. Great food tour with an amazing local guide, Kari Por! We ate Icelandic hot dogs, ice cream, and a delicious lamb stew. However, what made this tour so special was Kari’s energy, humor, and openness in sharing his personal insights and stories. It really made the tour so much more than good food and a history of buildings. Kari was our tour guide and we had so much fun! The trip during lunchtime takes you to eat lamb soup but the trip in the evening takes you to eat seafood soup. We took this trip in the evening and thought the soup was fantastic. We had a local hotdog and local ice cream.. we also had a chance to try some other local delicacies that he brought along with him. From start to finish, our walking/food tour with Kari was absolutely phenomenal. We’ve taken many tours like this all over the world, but Kari was hands-down the best guide we’ve ever had! His passion for the city’s history, combined with his incredible storytelling, made every stop come alive.
