If you want a day you won’t forget - enjoy a full day tour with Pedro Madeira in the Duro Valley! He picked us up at our hotel at 9am, he stopped at a train station to show us some beautiful tile art work that showed the history of wine. Then we went on a boat ride down the river for an hour next we went to a small vineyard with amazing wines, then to another small vineyard for lunch at the owners pool - the owner is an amazing chef! Pedro led us on a number of walks from our cruise - all of which were great - fabulous sceney, lovely weather, interesting walks with lovely views. He coped admirably with a very mixed ability group. He was a really knowledgable, kind and patient guide who was happy to share his enthusiasm and passion for the Douro region, its history and culture and its port wines. What an incredible experience - we would recommend this tour for anyone who wants to experience the beautiful Douro Valley. We’ve traveled around the world and Pedro is by far the best guide we’ve ever had. He is a great communicator and plans the day around smaller, more intimate wineries where you feel like family!
