Khor Virap是Grigor Luisavorich（聖格雷戈里照明者）在治療King Trdat III之前被監禁13年的地方。這導致301年在亞美尼亞採用基督教。
事實上，Khor Virap這個名字的意思是“深坑”，以監獄聖格雷戈里所在的監獄命名。
下一站將是修道院Noravank，其歷史可以追溯到XIII-XIV世紀。該建築群包括1339 St. Astvatsatsin（“Burtelashen”）墳墓教堂，St。Stepanos Nakhavka和gavit，St. Grigor教堂和Stepanos Orbelian Sepulcher，中世紀教堂和住宅區的遺跡以及現代化的辦公室和大廳。
