After watching countless byFood videos on YouTube, we decided to book the tour with Shizuka — and it turned out to be the best decision we could have made. The tour offered the perfect blend of fascinating information about Harajuku, fun activities, and a wonderful variety of delicious foods. Shizuka’s open, cheerful, and irresistibly positive personality made the entire experience unforgettable, and the time just flew by. I was always interested with doing some sort of tour in Japan but could never figure out which one to go on. The moment I found out Shizuka was hosting the Harajuku tour I immediately knew that if there was any Japan tour for me to go on that this would definitely be the one. That instinct did not steer me wrong because this was absolutely one of the most memorable moments of all my trips to Japan! Shizuka is just as kind, bubbly and endearing in all of the videos she is in, maybe even more so! I have to admit that I was nervous meeting her but her genuine personality makes everyone feel so comfortable to the point where it feels like we’ve known her forever. She is also amazing with children. There were two in our group and she engaged with them in the most cool auntie way! Shizuka really made this tour so much fun and very informative with her knowledge of Japan history. She is just so much fun to be around and If she’s still doing tours by the next time I plan a trip back to Japan you can definitely count me in! I really had thee most amazing time. This will be a memory I will cherish and hold dear in my heart forever. Arigato gozaimashita Shizuka!!

We had an amazing time with Shizuka! Our kids (ages 6 and 9) thought this was one of the best things we did in Japan- they had the opportunity to learn about the Harajuku culture, to try tons of new foods (fun and delicious) and Shizuka kept them engaged and excited for the entire time. I really appreciated her patience and her ability to manage the group and our varying interests. The kids are already asking when we can go back to do another food tour with Shizuka!! Shizuka Anderson is a wonderful host. Her energy and kindness immediately brings a group of strangers together. One will feel like they are part of one of her Byfoods videos. The overall detail and locations are thoughtful, thorough.m and chosen with purpose. Overall anyone that is able to book this tour is lucky to be on it.

We had the absolute pleasure of being guided by truly incredible guide, Kaori. From the moment we met her, Kaori was warm, welcoming, and so accommodating—especially to my older parents, making sure they felt comfortable throughout the walk. She was incredibly thoughtful, often checking in with them and adjusting the pace so everyone could enjoy the experience fully. It’s rare to find a guide who brings that level of care and attentiveness, and it truly meant the world to us. Kaori’s knowledge of Tsukiji was deep and fascinating, but what stood out even more was how she brought the market to life with her passion and storytelling. One of the highlights of the tour was when she took us behind one of the food stalls to show us how tamago is made—a truly special, behind-the-scenes peek that we never could’ve experienced on our own. Watching the process up close and hearing about the craft behind it was fascinating and really highlighted the beauty of Japanese culinary culture. And of course, the food itself was beyond delicious. Kaori introduced us to some of the best bites in the market, but the standout had to be the melt-in-your-mouth wagyu skewers—so juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Every stop felt curated and intentional, and Kaori always made sure we had the best possible experience with each dish. Thank you, Kaori, for giving us a truly memorable day filled with laughter, learning, and lots of amazing food. You’re a treasure!
