My business colleague and I wanted to explore Hutong but were not interested in busy tourist spots, nor Insta-ready iconic spaces. This tour, the calligraphy and dumplings, appealed to me because it sounded like a more culturally rich experience, because I like to learn about local traditions (food and art!), and because it was unrushed. The people at the Meeting point were worries because i stood there like I had no plan. The Workshop is very interesting, you learn a lot about the diffrent typea of ink that was used and how it is today. Master Yan is very Kind and has a lot of patience explaining everything. My guide Chuan was also really great. He could tell me a lot of things i did not know yet about the Hutong where we were doing the course. He helped me a lot with the translation. This was the highlight in Beijing. We already did the Great Wall, Tian An Men Square, and the Forbidden City. We went to the museum where our host told us to meet. Just text him when you’re outside and he’ll come get you. That’s because you will walk through ancient city streets to the house where the cooking and calligraphy takes place. Our host was translator while the calligraphy expert guided us through writing several meaningful Chinese characters. We each did about 10 copying the master....閱讀更多
