Super night out with a great host. Took us to places we would never have discovered on our own. We met and had fun with locals and a delightful mama-san. Couldn't recommend more.

We had a great time experiencing local foods and drinks, and experiencing the energy and ambiance of Asakusa at night. The food and drinks were very locals recommended/curated, and delicious.

This tour is a must for enjoying food and learning so much about the Shinjuku area. By far, ending the night in the Golden Gai area was a true experience!

Amazing time! This bar-hopping tour through Golden Gai, Kabukicho, and Omoide Yokocho was an amazing. Our guides were both friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel welcome right away. Each stop had its own unique vibe, and the drinks and local bites were delicious. It was the perfect mix of culture, fun, and nightlife. Highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to explore Tokyo!

Fantastic experience. Both guides were highly qualified and extremely knowledgeable on all things Japan. They brought us to locations that would not have been easy to find on our own. We had a very pleasant experience and a great conversation enjoying wonderful dining and drinking options.

I've always loved Japan By Food on YouTube, so when I came to Japan I wanted to do a tour with By Food. It did not disappoint. Our tour guide was super friendly and knowledgeable. All the hosts at the bars were super welcoming. And they were even welcoming enough to get my husband to do karaoke which has never happened before. I also loved how personal it was for having a tour that was so nice and small group. 200% recommend!

Especially the best part of the tour was discovering the snack bar culture. Naturally, i love izakayas, but since I have not yet ever been to a snack bar, it was fascinating to see one more aspect of Japanese drinking culture, which would have been hidden away from tourists otherwise. It was a great experience overall

I really enjoyed everyone I met on the tour - from the guide, to the other participants, to of course, the sweet mama! The food was delicious (my mom really enjoyed the curry) and I appreciated the explanations (Nam Beer, the cheering, the pouring for others out of respect.) It was a very fun experience and I'm glad we were able to join!

We loved doing this tour. Our guide Glenda was welcoming and was very knowledgeable of the area and the food outlets. We were very lucky in being able to eat at one restaurant in particular which is normally very hard to get into, and the food was delicious. We had a lot of fun and can highly recommend this tour. Glenda made it great.

We really enjoyed our food and pub tour of Shinjuku - our guide was knowledgeable and fun, and we learned a lot about the history of the area. We got to eat different types of food, and it was a good amount and balance of each - we never felt it was repetitive, nor did we feel too full. I really liked that the tour ended at Golden Gai, where we stayed for many additional hours having a wonderful time! My only comment is that it seemed we walked in circles sometimes, and it wasn't clear to me why that was. But overall, great tour!
