On this small-group tour, you'll taste your way through the city with 5 authentic Sofia food stops off the beaten path: from flaky banitsa and grilled cheese on a tile, to peppers stuffed the old way, slow-cooked lamb, and a surprise dessert. Each stop reveals a piece of local life, history, and flavor — all guided by a passionate local host. Taste authentic Bulgarian specialties at multiple stops while traveling on Sofia’s historic public tram with a city card for the day! Please note: the tasting menu is optional and may be adjusted according to availability or seasonal ingredients. We recommend coming with an empty stomach and skipping a big breakfast beforehand!

Ancient Serdica Archaeological Complex

Ancient cultural and communication complex “Serdica” combines areas with various purposes, divided into two zones. The “Largo” zone, situated underneath Nezavisimost Square, integrates the unearthed archaeological remains into a site for cultural events. The remains of one of the two main streets of the Roman town, the decumanus maximus, which connects the eastern and the western gate of the city, can be seen here. Great overview of...

Great overview of Bulgarian food! We were taken to a variety of places for some bites and he did a good job of pointing out important sites on the way. Glad I booked this!

Happy and full bellies!

My husband and I had a nice food and culture tour with Peter. We appreciated Peter took us to small local establishments that gave us a true taste of local dishes. He customized the food selections to our preferences and interests. We also appreciated he still did the tour even though it was only my husband and myself. Great food and a history lesson of Bulgaria

Very much enjoyed this food and history tour. Peter is an excellent guide. He is very knowledgeable about the history of Sofia and local food and culture. There are five food stops that also include adult beverages if you desire. Also included is a transit day pass that we were able to use after the tour. All of the food was delicious and we learned a lot about the history of Sofia and Bulgaria. Highly recommend!

What an experience! Turns out I was the only one signed up for this tour and luckily Peter didn't cancel on me! We ended up doing a totally custom tour and it was so much fun! The food was great, we were able to go to a food event in the city with locals, went to a cocktail bar, tried raki and rode different trams around while Peter explained much about the city, it's history, etc. It was a really awesome day!
