Bosphorus Strait (Pass By)

The Bosphorus Strait connects the Sea of Marmara with the Black Sea. It is 30 km long and 550 to 3000 m wide. Its depth varies from 36 to 124m in the middle of the Strait. Üsküdar (Turkish pronunciation: [ysˈcydaɾ]) is a municipality and district of Istanbul Province, Turkey. Its area is 35 km2, and its population is 524,452 (2022). It is a large and densely populated district on the Anatolian (Asian) shore of the Bosphorus.

The Blue Mosque was built between 1609 and 1616 in what was then the center of Istanbul. Its position opposite Hagia Sophia suggests that Ahmed I intended the mosque to rival the glory of the former catheral. The mosque's architect, Sedefkar Mehmed Ağa, is responsible for the perfect proportions of its structure.
