You will join a hands-on cooking class in Merzouga and learn to make Berber Madfouna, the desert pizza, baked under hot sand and embers heated by a wood fire. First, you will mix and knead the dough, prepare the filling, and season it with local spices. After that, you will shape and seal the Madfouna, place it on the hot base, then cover it with a black metal baking lid. After covering it with the lid, we put fire on it by piling wood and embers over the top to create a natural oven. While it bakes, you will enjoy a glass of tea, relax, take photos, and hear stories about Sahara life. When it is ready, you will uncover and taste the Madfouna you helped make, served warm with tea and simple sides. Vegetarian option available on request.
