I booked this tour in a rush the day before, and it was truly the best choice! It was raining heavily, but our guide, Joe, was so kind and took great care of everyone. Not only did I get to enjoy great wine, but I also learned about the history of New Zealand and the Māori people, making it a truly meaningful time. Plus, his place to stay is amazing! If you visit Wanaka, I highly recommend staying at his studio.
There is a good reason why all reviews are five stars. Joe was an amazing host. The mix of beautiful wineries and the Māori cultural experience was absolutely magic. Can’t recommend highly enough.

We had a magical time with Joe on his wine & Maori culture tour! His extensive & deeply interesting knowledge of Maori culture was delivered in a detailed but playful way which our group immediately fell in love with. Joe's deep love for his land, culture & what he does is clear. The wineries he chose for our visit was beautiful & we all had a wonderfully relaxing & fun time at both. This tour was recommended to us and we loved it! We did the Express wine tasting with Māori history and wished we had done the full day tour! Joe is very knowledgeable and engaging, explaining to us the Māori history with a focus on the South Island. We were a group of 6 people, perfect size for this experience. We did wine tasting at Aitken’s Folly, a smaller winery with wonderful wines, and Rippon, a bigger and more stablished winery in the area.
