Beyoğlu has long been one of Istanbul’s great centers of culture, nightlife and dining, where traces of its cosmopolitan past mix with Anatolian traditions and a distinctly modern energy. We’ll begin with comforting homestyle dishes such as vegetables stewed in olive oil and hand-folded mantı before setting out through the neighborhood’s lively backstreets. Along the way, we’ll taste Black Sea-style rice and beans, sample şalgam, a fermented purple-carrot drink, and pass the rock bars, meyhanes and nargile salons that define Beyoğlu after dark. We’ll then settle into a classic ocakbaşı for grilled lamb kebab and rakı before continuing toward the neighborhood fish market. Our final stops include a fourth-generation sweets shop, where seasonal ayva tatlısı is topped with rich kaymak, and a viewpoint overlooking Beyoğlu for one last toast to the neighborhood’s enduring spirit.

Incredible experience with Remziye in Beyoğlu

This tour was phenomenal and definitely a highlight of our time in Istanbul. Our guide Remziye was so knowledge about the neighborhood and every place we visited made us feel like a local. We were so impressed with Remziye, not just her expertise about the places we visited and the history behind the food, but her willingness to share her own background and personal perspectives made it all the more special. Best Istanbul Souvenir- a culinary discovery

Discovering the hidden Istanbul thanks to food has been a highlight for our holidays. We spent 5 hours with our great guide Basak, who knows perfectly to combine explaining the taste of the local food with the history of the city. Local authenticity reveals at every step. We let ourselves surprised, excited and ready to embrace an adventure, just steps away from the full touristic paths. Wonderful introduction to Turkish cuisine

My husband and I loved our tour with Basak through the Beyoğlu neighborhood. I highly recommend this evening tour as you get to hop around to different bars and restaurants and see the nightlife of a beautiful and lively neighborhood as a local. Basak was an amazing tour guide, you can tell she loves her culture and is passionate about food and where it comes from. We ate a bit of everything throughout the night, you will not go hungry.
