Learn to surf at Cerritos Beach on Baja California Sur's Pacific coast. Along with standing on the board, practice reading waves and understanding ocean movement. The wide sandy beach offers space to learn and practice, with coaching suited to your experience and the conditions.

Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
Minimum age is 6 years
Guests receive exact meeting or pick-up instructions within 24 hours after booking through the Viator operator chat. If not received, please contact us at least 24 hours before your tour
Maximum waiting time after scheduled meeting or pick-up time is 5 minutes
Cut-off times are based on local experience time
Suitable for beginner, intermediate, and advanced surfers with coaching adapted to skill level and ocean conditions
Surf lessons require basic comfort in the water and moderate physical activity
Wetsuits available upon request during winter months in XL, LG, M, and SM
Travelers requesting specific surfboard sizes or fiberglass boards should contact us at least 24 hours in advance
Instructor ratio 1:3
Observer/companion spots require advance reservation and additional transportation and lunch fee. Observer option does not include surfboard or surf lesson participation. Surf lessons operate seasonally approximately from November 15 through March 15 based on seasonal swell conditions
Includes approximately 2 hours of surf lesson plus transportation and lunch timing
Transportation from Cabo San Lucas area is approximately 1 hour
This experience requires favorable weather conditions. If canceled due to unsafe weather, ocean conditions, or operational restrictions, guests will be offered an alternative date or full refund
No locker facilities are available, but belongings may usually remain inside the transportation vehicle during the activity
Not recommended for travelers with back problems, pregnancy, or serious heart conditions
Participants under the influence of alcohol or drugs are not allowed
Medical refund requests require an official same-day doctor’s certificate and prior notification before activity start time

2-hour surfing lesson at Cerritos Beach

Surfboard, rashguard, beach chairs, umbrella setup, and all necessary surf equipment

Lunch

Lunch at a local Baja-style restaurant including tacos, tortilla chips, homemade salsas, and vegetarian option available

Specific surfboard sizes, fiberglass boards, or wetsuits available upon request with 24-hour notice

Escape the resort corridor and head to Cerritos Beach, one of Baja California Sur's most recognized surf destinations. This surf lesson combines professional instruction with the relaxed atmosphere of the Pacific coast, creating an ideal environment for both first-time surfers and those looking to improve their skills. Upon arrival, your instructor introduces the fundamentals of surfing, including safety, paddling technique, wave selection, and proper board positioning before entering the water. The lesson then moves into the surf zone, where you'll practice techniques and build confidence while receiving continuous coaching throughout the session. After your time in the water, relax by the beach and enjoy lunch overlooking the Pacific Ocean before returning to Los Cabos.

• Complimentary round-trip transportation is available from hotels in Cabo San Lucas, San José del Cabo, and the Tourist Corridor • If your hotel is not listed, feel free to contact us so we can check transportation availability for your area • Guests arriving with their own vehicle may meet directly at Cerritos Beach (Big Fun Beach Club Parking Area), where the surfing lesson begins from the beach • Hotels outside the main tourist area, including Hard Rock, Nobu, Rancho San Lucas, Diamante, or Four Seasons Costa Palmas, are not included in complimentary transportation and will meet at Plaza Gali OXXO in Cabo San Lucas • Cruise guests will also meet at Plaza Gali OXXO, approximately 3–5 minutes walking from the marina exit. Detailed walking directions will be provided with your confirmation message • Cabo San Lucas cruise arrivals operate using tender boats, which may take additional time depending on port operations. We strongly recommend taking the earliest tender available or booking priority tender service whenever possible • Guests who miss transportation or arrive late must arrive directly at Cerritos Beach before the activity start time at their own expense

Alan and Fernando were exceptional! Super fun to be with, very informative in their instruction and lesson. Made learning how to surf easy... Or is easy as it could be. Prepare to be sore the next day if you've never done it. We highly recommend Alan and Fernando with high tide.

Fernando and Hugo are the BEST!!!

Fernando and Hugo were the BEST surf instructors! We were a group of friends with varying degrees of experience, and we ALL learned, felt successful, and had the BEST time!! They were super friendly, personable, and supportive! I would definitely recommend these guys - they were so awesome!
