Here is what your experience will look like: WELCOME & DRESS UP. Arrive at the Swahili Charm Retreat in Kombeni and get dressed in traditional Swahili attire (a khanga for women, a kikoi for men). SHOP AT THE LOCAL MARKET. After the briefing from your host, head to Zanzibar’s vibrant local market with your guide. HANDS-ON COOKING SESSION. After the market visit, you will go back to the venue to officially start your cooking session. A local Chef will welcome and guide you through every step; From chopping, marinating, seasoning, and cooking traditional Swahili dishes from scratch. SNACKS & STORIES. While your food cooks, enjoy some snacks as we share the cultural stories behind each dish and pass along cooking tips so you can recreate these flavors in your own kitchen. FEAST TOGETHER. After cooking, plate your dishes the Swahili way, capture the spread with photos, and gather around the table to savor the authentic Swahili meal you made, with optional taarab music playing to complete the experience.
