We weren't sure what to expect. However, the tour was fantastic and is highly recommended from us. Jim, the tour guide, enlightened us on the process of making various cheeses at the factory with a great deal of enthusiasm and humour, keeping all ages entertained. The highlight was tasting the cheese and we were very appreciative of the gift of cheese samples and information booklet to take away. A great tour for cheese lovers of all ages. We done the tour and tasting with Jim as our guide and Jim was an absolute character. Entertained us the whole time while still keeping us engaged on the cheese and history of the factory etc. Jim was able to rattle on about cheese without feeling like he was reading a script which is nice. The cheeses themself were top notch, we can’t say we have been converted to Blue cheese, very much an acquired taste but the other 5 cheeses we tried were all very nice. We really enjoyed this tour! It was so cool to learn about the process from start to finish, and even see some of it. So amazing we have this option here in NZ. Tour sizes are small as well which was great! The cheese tasting at the end was so good. I'm not a big cheese fan like some people, I don't loooveeee cheese but I'll have cheese, however even I appreciated the differences in taste and stuff during the tasting at the end, and even found one I really loved. Learnt so much on this tour. Guide Jim was entertaining, knew the history of cheese making and passionate about cheeses. Learnt so much, saw the labour intensive process of mixing, cutting, pressing and ageing. Who knew that Whitestone has its own local mould for blue cheese. And topped with great tasting and gift bag. Highly recommended.

Great tour, giving us a behind the scenes look at cheese making, and new insights and an appreciation not just of Whitestone, but also the wider cheese industry. Finished with a great cheese tasting. If that doesn't leave you cheesed out, the cafe's cheese rolls are outstanding!
