We had a wonderful personal tour of the vineyard and learned about Donatella's experiences becoming an expert winemaker. Her assistant Alessia helped with the wine tasting which was a unique experience. We were able to sample 5 different Brunello wines and took a tour of the grounds and the winery itself. If you are interested in a personal experience, this is definitely the way to go. We stayed on site which is a beautiful estate and ate a wonderful dinner at the restaurant. Not your usual wine-tasting. This takes place at a farmhouse and winery dating back to the 15th century - and includes a history and background of how the location was dispossessed of its land by the Pope, abandoned for about 200 years, re-purchased by the family who first built it, and have now resumed operations. We had lunch followed by the tour. It was extremely interesting and informative. The tour guide had extensive experience working with the winery and was fluent in English and of course Italian. She told some charming stories. All of us thoroughly enjoyed it.
