The history of rum starts in the Caribbean around the 17th century. Cooking with Rum talks about the history and influence of rum on the Caribbean, its culture and its cuisine. Various rums will be present for tasting and flavoring the foods. Since we are on Antigua, we will start with the island award winning 5-year old English Harbor rum and then move on to three other superb brands from countries such as Barbados, Guatemala, Cuba, Jamaica and Martinique. The food will introduce our guests to how various rums can be used to flavor foods whether you are using a classic dark rum or a filtered white. Take this class not just to explore new flavours, but to enjoy the experience of cooking with new friends in a West Indian home with great view of the Caribbean Sea!

Please advise any specific dietary requirements (especially allergies!) at time of booking
All recipes depend on the season and availability
Please be aware that we may need to move your booking to another day to meet our 4 person minimum. If your party is less than 4, please book into an exsiting class, or contact us.
We require multiple hand washings and masks to be warn if a guest has flu-like symptoms.

Join a cooking class in a local home high on a hill overlooking the Caribbean Sea. This gives you a beautiful view and an opportunity to experience life the Caribbean way. The class is more of a local experience than a simple cooking class. Classes are taught hands-on or can be as laid-back as you wish. Your host and teacher, Nicole, teaches her classes in a very informal way explaining the history of the food and telling stories about living in the West Indies. Nicole will discuss the various uses of rum in the starter, the main and dessert and then you will enjoy a three-course lunch that includes all the recipes for the class. The history of rum starts in the Caribbean around the 17th century. During this cooking class, you will learn from a local about the history and influence of rum on the Caribbean, its culture and its cuisine... and get to participate in a rum tasting of 6 regional rums too!

We are unable to offer transportation to our home, but we do provide customized directions and information for all of our guests. When you arrive at our home, we always meet you and talk with the taxi driver to make sure he or she will pick you up on time when we are finished. We work with cruisers, hotel guests, and BnB guests all the time so we can help you find our way to our home via taxi or a car rental.

Great Experience !

My sister and I had the pleasure of taking the cooking with Rum Class! It was one of the highlights of our trip. Nicole welcomed us into her beautiful home and we prepared the best food I had on the island. From the meal to the conversation, it was such a treat. This is a must-do if you're ever in Antigua!

Great afternoon cooking and sharing stories

We had a great experience with Nicole in late August. We chose the cooking with rum option since a few of us do not eat seafood. The rum option was very filling and came with chicken kabobs and the rum cake. We had more than enough food and everything was delicious! We were so lucky that Nicole kept our experience with three of us, it was so intimate. We got to cook and share so many stories with Nicole, who is just a fantastic host! My wife and I were treated like family

This cooking experience was one of the best I have ever done. Ms Nicole is one of the most hospitable hosts I’ve ever encountered. My wife and I were greeted with great warmth and were able to learn a great deal about Caribbean cuisine. Now as for the food everything we were taught was amazing.
