I was born and raised in these places, my ancestors already lived here as did the family that owns the farmhouse that hosts us. Over the years we have carried out agricultural activities that have expanded rural knowledge. The profession of hiking guide has taught me how to best narrate my territory. A day as a Shepherd is an immersion in uncontaminated places and with boundless landscapes, full of ancient and authentic history. It will be possible to rediscover flavors and sensations that are now far from everyday life. Making a cheese with your own hands and with the milk milked from the animals that live a few meters away strengthens the relationship with the territory and the experience, from which you can also take home the piece of cheese you made!!

In the Maiella National Park you follow the Sentiero dei Monti Carricini. Immersing yourself in the woods, you will see megalithic walls from the Italian era, among the colorful vegetation and in spring you will find various wild orchids. After a short panoramic break on the crest of Monte di Maio, we will continue to arrive at the Il Mulino farmhouse where we will be delighted with a tasting of cold cuts, cheeses and typical products of their own production. Here all participants will be able to actively get involved in the creation of a traditional cheese. After meeting the farm animals we will set off for a short distance to the archaeological site of Juvanum. Duration: The activity lasts a total of 8 hours. Difference in altitude: 200 m. Distance: 7 km. Hours: from 09.00 to 16.00 approximately. Difficulty: The path is of the hiking type, with a mixed route partly in the woods and partly uncovered. No particular technical knowledge or physical preparation for walking is required. The trail is also suitable for children from 8 years old. Equipment: Shoes with sculpted soles. Layered clothing, water, hat, sunscreen, snack.

Excellent experience

Paolo guided us on a wonderful hike, archeological site tour, and chese making experience. We learned quite a lot about the history of the area. The cheese making was a lot of fun and it was very rewarding to have made our own cheese! The included lunch was also incredible and the best meal we had in the country. I would very much recommend this experience.

Nature, Tradition and Hospitality at Its Best

We had an amazing day with Paolo, an experience that truly teaches you about life and nature in Abruzzo, a region absolutely worth visiting. Paolo’s explanations about the Majella National Park and everything that surrounds it were fantastic, engaging, and insightful. The day continued with a wonderful visit to a local agriturismo, where we tasted traditional food and wine, made our own cheese, visited the stables, and simply had a lot of fun. Geweldig avontuur in bos & boerderij

Altamente raccomandato. Paolo, la nostra guida, ci ha insegnato molto sulla vegetazione e sulla storia della zona. Ci è piaciuto. Lungo il percorso abbiamo trovato anche aculei di porcospino. quanto è speciale!!! Anche il pranzo è stato delizioso con tutti prodotti locali e Paolo ci ha insegnato a fare 3 tipi di formaggio. ha anche insegnato ai nostri figli come mungere una capra. un giorno che non dimenticherai mai. grazie Paolo
