Gonca Karakoc is not just a knowledgeable guide, she has the energy and the charisma to make the whole tour experience both enjoyable and educational. Exceptional!
I try to do a food tour in every city I visit, no matter how many times I've been. This was not my first time in Istanbul but it was my first tour with Culinary Backstreets and it did not disappoint! First, I must say that Ibrahim was awesome - great personality, stories, and made sure we got history lessons in addition to food lessons (he's an architectural history buff which was a bonus since Istanbul is an example of the mingling of multiple cultures). Our tour guide Ibrahim was phenomenal. We got an opportunity to taste a vast array of local food. He was informative and provided us with tidbits of information, stories that helped bring history of food alive for us. I would highly recommend the tour. Take it. It won't disappoint!!!

Ibrahim was the perfect host/guide. It was my first day in Istanbul and this turn set the tone for the rest of my time. We had a myriad of foods and drinks at various location. Ibrahim was especially attentive to me after I tripped on a raised drain pipe and fell. Going the extra mile because I was not familiar with the metro routes and my hotel was in Levant, he escorted me to my hotel at the end of the tour. I would highly recommend going on the tours he leads
