Great, hands-on, experience at a long standing Miso business. Warm and friendly hosts who do a great job of explaining the process and history of miso (through an interpreter or translation apps). Come ready to get your hands dirty and leave with enough miso to last a long while.

We had an amazing time with Ross! He was really fun, engaging and attentive to our preferences. If you are curious about sake or love sake, highly recommend!

We absolutely loved the tour led by Thomas and supported by Miyuki! The knowledge they shared was top notch; the tour flowed well & gave us a greater appreciation of sake!

My wife and I joined the tour on Oct 3rd. Sai was our tour guide who took us to a brewery museum, lunch and a few sake tastings. We enjoyed the tour very much, highlight of our day. Learned a lot and tasted quite a few great sake’s.

We loved our sake tour with Thomas. He was so well versed and taught us a lot about Sake. We really enjoyed walking the Fushimi neighborhood. Not a touristy area and felt very authentic. Next time we come to Japan we will use ByFood again.

One of the best tours we’ve ever been on. Had the best time with Thomas! Took absolute care and time to make sure all our questions were answered. Super friendly, knowledgeable, and approachable. Took us to a wide variety of places from a sake museum to a sake brewery where we had lunch to a beautiful historical statue to a wonderful dessert. He even took us to a sake sommelier. Also helped us get home. Just absolutely the best experience and could not recommend more. Our only regret is we’re not here for longer to do more tours with Thomas.

Sae was such a phenomenal guide!! We enjoyed learning about the many sake types as she effortlessly handled the logistics. She was so kind also in answering all of the questions we had about Japanese culture and the local area! The food was also amazing. 10/10 very glad we chose this tour!

A wonderful exploration of the history and evolution of Sake culture in Kyoto. This tour breathed new life into my interest of Sake and exposed me to the true variety of Sake available. I love this tour and have a new appreciation for the drink!

I went on this tour with my husband and we were guided by Hiroe and Ayaka (her assistant). Along the back alleyways and waterways we explored the Fushimi neighborhood (a reasonable amount of walking but nothing too taxing). Although we have been on a lot of other tours to learn about wine, beer, whisky etc we thought it was amazing to learn about sake and its history/production process. We tasted some of the local springs waters around the area too (obviously it is an important part of the flavor when making sake). The lunch was delicious and it was served with a sake flight which matched with different parts of our bento box (deluxe!!!) Hiroe and Ayaka also took us to a food stall restaurant. Here we tried none other than 18 different sakes brewed at some of the 20 sake breweries in Fushimi!! And ate some snacks. The last stop was the best: we went to this local brewery and you can buy sake that is directly poured from their taps (so cool)! Overall the tour went to lots of different places, local ones and cool ones then the bigger more manufacturing venues. Interesting tour about history and sake making. Great tour - 100% recommend!!
