A wonderfully eye-opening experience from Akito, where he not only taught us about tea, from growing it all the way to preparing it, but also talked about the state and future of the tea industry in Shizuoka and Japan as a whole. Between visiting the fields, touring a rare co-op factory, and tasting a variety of teas, we were impressed not only by Akito's knowledge about tea and the local area, but also the skill with which he was able to craft the perfect cup, dialing in the temperature and infusions with just his senses. A true master! Whether you have a burgeoning curiosity about tea or already a seasoned lover, this tour is a must!

Yuka's class was fantastic! She provided cultural context on shojin ryori traditions which helped bring special meaning to our cooking. I got SO many helpful, practical tips for cooking each element of the meal that I'm so excited to replicate at home. I'm definitely planning on taking more of her classes when I return to Japan in the future.

I had an incredible time learning authentic Nagoya home cooking! Unlike other classes where you just watch and eat, this was completely hands-on, which made a huge difference. Yuko-san and her family were so welcoming that the evening felt more like a warm family gathering than a formal lesson. If you want to experience the true heart of Nagoya’s food culture beyond just sitting in a restaurant, this is the perfect way to do it. I will definitely be making that tebasaki when I get back home!

Akito is a very knowledgeable and personable guide. The tea farm and factory tour was educational and fun. We even were joined by his father which was a nice treat. I would highly recommend this tour to any tea lover who wants in depth information and a great tea tasting.

We had such an exceptional experience! A sincere thank you to our host, Kaoru, who thought through every detail end-to-end to ensure a seamless experience. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it - not only the fantastic mochi lesson, but most importantly her company and the time she took to explain mochi's significance in the Japanese culture. I can't express what an incredible time we had. We visited in October, and despite the cloudy weather, the views from the farm were absolutely breathtaking and something I will never forget. Akito was such an incredible guide! He took the time to answer our questions and share his knowledge about the farm, the factory and tea! He even told us about "tea salad", which is something we now do all the time with out tea leaves 🍃 (But you have to do the tour to learn the secret!) I would do this tour again in a heartbeat, and I urge anyone in the area to take the tour and see all it has to offer!
