Join this journey through the mezcal culture and its enchanting landscapes. The three activities of this experience are designed to immerse you in the soul of mezcal. First, delve into the natural wonders that shape the mezcal plant and its stunning surroundings, unveiling the secrets of its origin. Next, witness the almost alchemical art behind its preparation, a fascinating process that adds the perfect touch of distinctiveness to every sip.


To finish the tour you will have a tasting, where you will learn about various types of flavors, each intimately related to the various plants and the meticulous procedures that define mezcal, a fact that will be easier to understand after you have explored the factory and the countryside.


To close the experience, we will have a Oaxacan meal, full of authentic flavors and fresh ingredients.


Each activity is a sensory exploration that promises discovery of what makes up the culture and flavor of mezcal.

What You Get

Alcoholic beverages
You will enjoy a mezcal tasting where you will learn about the flavors of different mezcal preparation methods, as well as the scents and sensations of mezcales made with wild agaves.
Lunch
You'll have a traditional Oaxacan meal, with comal food: includes tlayuda, flavored water and dessert.
Carbonated beverages
For minors, they will be given a traditional drink made from agave, called agua miel (honey water).

What You’ll Experience

Santiago Matatlan

Walking through different areas of Santiago Matatlán; a town called as the "Mezcal's World Capital", you will begin to discover how the processes of distillation develops inside the factory, the way the agaves grow in the field and learn how to distinguish one type of mezcal from another. On the day you will develop an in depth knowledge of mezcal, you will be provided with multiple approaches to it. We will walk the agave field, to being on perfect setting for a few pre-hispanic myths, and finally, go on to make a Mezcal toast with nature. We will head to the palenque where you will experience the mezcal tasting, where you will be able to test you newly developed knowledge. Afterwards we will go to the terrace of the factory where you will be served a traditional Oaxacan meal cooked on the comal, and you can enjoy the beautiful view of the valley and the agave fields. The drive between the city and the village takes 40 minutes each way.
