We had a great evening with Yoshi on his After Dark Izakaya Tour in Shinjuku. All the food and drinks were very good at each stop. We enjoyed his fun commentary and especially the unexpected musical performance at the last stop! Thanks, Yoshi, for an evening of laughs and an easy way to experience a bit of the pub culture of Tokyo.

In easy steps which you actively participate in the instructors will guide you through making 4 different kinds of Mochi - from savory to sweet to mochi containing fruit. You will learn all the names and ingredients and make and form the mochi yourself. This is not the "pounded" kind of mochi, but rather the sort you mix up rice powder, sugar and water and microwave - yielding a soft edible treat. We had a blast and quite enjoyed it. We actually did this class and a ByFood Wagashi class in the same day and though the ingredients are similar the techniques learned are quite different. Both were fun and informative. Another win for ByFood and Japanese craftsmanship.

This was a fantastic experience and the sensei was so kind and patient. And the English interpreter Lucy was so helpful. We enjoyed both making the confections and the tea ceremony and learning the culture and background and history.
