Experience Details

Sardinian pecorino is the emblem-cheese of cheese production on the island, and with this experience you will learn the secrets of its creation, in the heart of Sardinia.

After visiting the splendid farm in the beautiful setting of Burgos, you will be guided to the cheese factory by an expert cheese artisan who, with all his care and the wisdom of tradition, will teach you the stages of production, conservation, and the maturing times of the prized pecorino. An experience crowned by the tasting of cheese and many other genuine products.

An incredible tour for those who wish to take a journey into the authentic pastoral tradition of Sardinia and for those who love to discover the curiosities of farm life.

Good To Know

  • In the proximity of animals, it is essential to maintain a calm and respectful behavior, avoiding shouting or abrupt gestures, as they could easily become frightened. A calm attitude will help make them feel safe and comfortable

What You’ll Experience

The tour begins with a welcome from the hosts, who will take you on an illustrative walk around the farm. You will meet and learn about many animal species besides the Sardinian sheep: llamas, alpacas, peacocks and many varieties of birds from all over the world. The second stop is the cheese factory attached to the farm, where the magic happens: the transformation of milk into cheese. This is where the heart of the experience takes place: the workshop for making Sardinian pecorino. After an introductory briefing on the techniques used, the shepherd will give a demonstration of the essential steps in this practice. Each participant will be able to actively participate, discovering and learning the differences between fresh and mature cheese. During the workshop, it is in fact possible to taste the cheese, a rare opportunity to enjoy the genuineness of a freshly made product. At the end of the experience, you will be welcomed into the farm building where a selection of genuine local products, based on seasonal availability, accompanied by water and wine, will be offered for tasting.
