Everyone loves coffee. But how is it grown and processed? Tanzania is exporting coffee and many people are working with it so you can enjoy it. On our trip you will learn the long journey of the coffee from seed to cup. The farm delivering coffee to us is all organic and Fairtrade. Why is that important? Usually the farmers gets a low payment for the coffee. Sometimes its not enough to get their children to school. We pay the farmers 3 times the normal price. The coffee trees are not sprayed with any chemicals making it safer for the farmer and more healthy for us drinking the end product. Dont miss this opportunity to learn about coffee.

Arusha Region

Our coffee village is 40 min from Arusha town, 1400 mas and evergreen. From the village center we will use our feet and walk to the organic coffee farm. On the way you will pass through small farms, schools and churches. Our guide has lots of information about our culture and traditions. At the farm we will see the difference in traditional and organic coffee production. The walk down to our roaster takes 30-40 min. In the garden we serve a hot Tanzanian lunch with specialties from our village. Chapati, roasted banana, rice, ugali, sauce of goat, spinach, salad and fruits of the season. For dessert we will cup different coffee together with our famous banana cake and chocolate covered coffee beans. In the afternoon we move over to the roastary that is in the same garden. The last part of the coffee journey is happening here. In our showroom you can find your favorite roast and bring home to your friends and family.

The whole coffee story

We walked around the coffee plantation while our local guide explained how the coffee plants were cultivated and protected without using pesticides. He also told us about the economic importance of this crop for the village and the region, historically and presently. As experienced hardcore coffee drinkers we had never seen a coffee plant up close...The next step was the processing of the beans and the different types of roasting. The comparative tasting made the whole explanation even more memo...read more

Great Experience!

Had a great tour through the village and learnt about the local community! Then we saw the agricultural fields and the coffee plantation. We also learnt a lot about how a cup of coffee is produced. Richard, our guide, explained everything very well and was very communicative.

Awesome experience

Overall - this was fantastic. Our guide Samuel was wonderful. He took us through his hillside village of 7000 people. He showed us butcher shops, several churches, stores, the courthouse, his home, gardens, family. He was very knowledgable and tried very hard to teach us about his culture, way of life, etc. We walked about 4.2 miles. Easy walk. Special lunch and coffee making factory tour. Very glad we did this. Fun, educational, good exercise. 😀😀

A lucky find.

The guide, Samuel, showed us the reality of coffee farming (as well as other small-scale farming) on an excellent walking tour through the area (including a village) around the coffee farms and roastery. I can't recommend this tour highly enough. This was a nearly perfect length (five or six hours including lunch) on our second day in Arusha (and Tanzania). He's articulate, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and energetic. Give this one a try; you won't regret it.

Hi. Great to have you at our place. Samwel has worked with the coffee tour for more than 10 years! We welcome everyone to learn more about coffee production.

Coffee farming 101

We started with a tour of a Lutheran church built in the 1800's by Germans. It was simple and functional and interesting and beautiful. The walk from the church to the coffee farm was somewhat uphill on a dirt lane. Be prepared if it's a hot, dry day. The coffee farmer took us around his farm and educated us on every step involved in coffee farming. We hiked down a path through trees that was uneven. Well worth it but be prepared for a hike. We passed several villagers' homes to arrive at...read more

Thank you for visiting us. Its indeed dry and dusty at this time of the year. In the afternoon it can be very hot. We are looking forward for the rain season to start soon.
