What You’ll Experience

1

Chateau Yaldara

We’ll begin the day at the majestic Château Yaldara, one of the Barossa Valley’s most iconic and historic wineries. Established in 1947 by Hermann Thumm, a European winemaker who brought his old-world techniques to Australia, the château itself sits on the site of an original 19th-century flour mill, adding layers of charm and character to the estate. Famous for its award-winning Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, Château Yaldara blends rich winemaking traditions with stunning architecture. The name "Yaldara" is derived from the Aboriginal word meaning “sparkling,” a nod to the nearby North Para River and the natural beauty of the area. Guests will experience the award winning wines and estate’s grand sandstone buildings, manicured gardens, and riverside views—making it one of the most photographed destinations in the Barossa. You’ll also have time to explore the grounds with a self-guided tour of the estate, perfect for soaking in its history and capturing memorable photos.

Browns Barossa Donuts

While exploring the charming town of Tanunda, we recommend a special stop that locals rave about—Browns Barossa Donuts. This isn’t just any bakery stop; it’s a bite of pure indulgence, known for serving the best donuts in South Australia. Open only Wednesday to Saturday, Browns Barossa Donuts has earned a cult following for its handmade brioche donuts, crafted fresh each morning using locally sourced ingredients. Flavours like Biscoff cheesecake, Nutella dream, and dulce de leche éclairs make this more than just a snack—it’s an experience. Perfectly timed into our itinerary, this stop gives you a taste of Tanunda’s delicious side and adds a bit of fun (and sugar!) to your day of wine, culture, and discovery. Jacob's Creek Trail of Discovery (Pass By)

As we journey through the Barossa Valley, you’ll pass by the iconic Jacob’s Creek—one of Australia’s most recognised wine brands. While we don’t stop here, our expert guide will share the rich story behind this historic name. Jacob’s Creek takes its name from the small creek running through the region, named after William Jacob, a surveyor in the 1840s. The first commercial vineyard near the creek was planted in 1847 by Johann Gramp, a Bavarian immigrant whose vision laid the foundation for what would become a global wine powerhouse. Today, Jacob’s Creek represents the evolution of Australian winemaking—where humble beginnings grew into international acclaim. As you pass the estate, gain insight into its history, impact, and how it helped put Barossa on the world wine map. It’s a story of heritage, innovation, and the global spirit of Barossa wine.
