Do you like cooking and would you like to discover Hungary through gastronomy? I am a professional chef and would be happy to share everything with you about Hungarian cuisine. I love cooking and eating great food. It is fantastic when my kitchen is full of life: somebody is chopping onions, someone else is preparing the meat or kneading dough, and we are talking, laughing, and enjoying the wonderful smell of food filling the whole place. While you are in Budapest, come, cook together, and enjoy this unique atmosphere in the centre. This 100% hands-on cooking class gives you a memorable experience. If you don't have enough time for the full 4-hour experience: please look for my "Budapest Authentic Hungarian Cooking Class with Wine" event: 2.5-hour class where you make one iconic Hungarian dish and learn about local ingredients, cuisine, customs and everyday life. You may also enjoy my "Hungarian Strudel Making Class for a hands-on Hungarian baking experience.

From the beginning to the end we make together a Hungarian 3-course menu (+ Hungarian bites). We work together as a team and provide all the ingredients, pots and kitchen equipment. Everybody makes the same menu, so the first guest to book can choose one of the following 3 menus. During the cooking you can taste typical local ingredients and discover the flavors, traditions and stories that make Hungarian cuisine unique. We also talk about Hungary, local food, customs and history. At the end of the cooking we eat together and you can enjoy the result of your efforts with a glass of Hungarian wine. You will receive the recipes of the dishes. Menu options - please, choose only ONE: Menu A: Cold sour cherry soup, Chicken paprikas with dumplings, Gundel pancake Menu B: Goulash soup (beef), Savoury pancake Hortobagy style (chicken), Apple Strudel. (made with filo dough) Menu C: Creamy potato soup with smoked sausage, Stuffed cabbage (pork), Poppy-seed bread dumplings + vanilla custard Minimum 4 participants are required for the class to run.
STARTER
Goulash soup (with beef meat)
I don't think I need to introduce this dish because everyone knows it. A soup with beef meat and different root vegetables... Sound good, doesn't it?
MAIN
Savoury meat pancake Hortobagy style (with chicken)
I can recommend this dish because it is tasty, light and trendy. Tradition and new way on one plate.
DESSERT
Apple Strudel with vanilla custard.
Traditional apple strudel prepared with thin filo dough and warmly spiced apples, accompanied by vanilla custard.
STARTER
Hungarian farmer's plate
During the cooking you can taste local ingredients (different types of paprika, sausage, cheese...) and learn about them.

Hungarian cooking class with Chef Marti is Awesome!

Chef Marti is an amazing professional cook; her homey kitchen space is in a lovely and easily-accessible location in Budapest. We loved creating cold soup, chicken paprikas and crepes for dessert, and Chef Marti paired those with delicious local wines. Chef Marti is welcoming and personable, and in addition to sharing historical perspectives about growing up in Hungary, she is also an excellent teacher who coaches and demonstrates when necessary. This cooking class experience was incredible, one...read more

Thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to share your experience! It was such a pleasure having you in my kitchen and cooking together. I’m delighted that you enjoyed preparing the traditional Hungarian menu — sour cherry soup, chicken paprikash with homemade dumplings and Gundel pancake — along with the Hungarian wines and the relaxed atmosphere of the class. I especially love that you enjoyed the stories and traditions behind the food as well. For me, a great Hungarian cooking class is not only about learning recipes, but also about getting hands-on, discovering Hungarian food culture and sharing a few personal stories along the way. Hearing that the class became one of your most memorable experiences in Europe truly means a lot to me. Thank you for choosing my cooking class, and I hope you’ll enjoy recreating some of these Hungarian favorites at home! 🇭🇺
