Experience Details
Meet your host Daniel at the Asko bus station and together visit the Asco/Keta market, a daily local market known for its spices, cereals and vegetables, located about a 5-min drive/20-min walk from his home. Here, you will be introduced to local ingredients used in your cooking class.
Join Daniel and his wife Tigist for your private, hands-on cooking experience in their home kitchen in Addis Ababa. During your 1.5 hour class, Tigist will show you how to make a traditional Ethiopian dish like shiro or tibs as well as how to pour and cook the perfect injera, a traditional fermented bread people in Ethiopia use as an edible plate with other dishes served on top of it. You will also learn to roast coffee beans and enjoy a traditional coffee ceremony after your meal.
On days that Daniel is traveling, his partner Yadassa will host you along with Daniel's wife at their home. Immerse yourself into the cultural and culinary traditions of Ethiopia during this unique in-home experience!
