This is a unique opportunity to visit the home of a local and explore traditional Puerto Rican culture and cuisine. Tony is a warm and gracious host who loves cooking because he loves to eat! A Johnson and Wales trained chef, Tony was born and raised in San Juan. After spending many years in New York, he decided to return to his home country to share his Puerto Rican food, culture and the beauty of the historic home he owns. Tony hosts a hands-on cooking class at his B&B, an architectural gem exquisitely decorated in the center of San German built in 1912. Learn cooking techniques and traditional Puerto Rican cultural traditions with a charming and talented Puerto Rican chef! • 3-hour private cooking class in a historic Puerto Rican home • Tour of an exquisitely decorated historic home • Sit down to a seasonal Puerto Rican meal with a modern twist • Enjoy sangria or beer over lively conversation with your host • No cooking experience necessary: vegetarian options available

Begin your Puerto Rican culinary journey with a cocktail and a tour of Tony's Victorian Creole home (and B&B). What makes Tony's home special are the walls adorned with original art nouveau paintings from 1912. It might be the only home in the region with original paintings from handmade stencils on wood. Next, join Tony in his kitchen for your Puerto Rican cooking class with a modern twist on traditional Puerto Rican cuisine. You will learn to cook three seasonal Puerto Rican dishes with locally sourced ingredients from Tony's garden or the local markets. Some of the dishes you might learn to cook are rice fritters with a creative guava sauce, a traditional stew or chayote escabeche, a local squash packed with antioxidants marinated in citrus and olive oil. Please note this is only a sample menu - Tony likes to cook based on what's fresh in the market and is happy to customize a menu for you. After cooking, enjoy your meal on the terrace with a view of the garden (weather permitting) or at the main dining area with a glass of sangria or beer. Please note that your meal may be supplemented with additional dishes that Tony has prepared in advance.

This experience was so amazing. Well worth the drive of 2hrs from San Juan. Can’t wait to go back home and cook up what I learned for my family‼️ The mango dessert was by far my fav 😊

Everything about this experience is magical… From Tony’s beautiful, historic, home / B&B to the flavors, aromas, tastes and stories you’ll experience. If you like Puerto Rico, Tony’s class will make you FALL IN LOVE!!! Honestly, our afternoon cooking, learning and eating with Tony will be a memory that lasts a lifetime. Don’t hesitate to book this. I actually got teary eyed driving back to our Airbnb after the experience because it was over lol! Honestly, it’s pure magic!!

This was the highlight of our trip to Puerto Rico! Tony was great. He asked why I would like to cook and of course I had to choose alcalpurrias& tembleque. He also showed us how to make arroz blanco con habichuelas y caldo de cerdo. Everything tasted great!! I love cooking and I can’t wait to make this for my friends and family!
