Experience Details

Georgia Supra is at the heart of Georgian Culture, so if you have not experienced it, you might not have seen Georgia in full. Elders say: there were three main academy's in Georgia since the 12th century: Gelati Academy (Kutaisi), Ikalto Academy, and the Academy of Supra. Indeed this is a place where youth learns about all the important values alongside with food and wine. Supra translates as fest and it denotes an art of celebration. Celebration of a wedding, a birthday, a birth, or even a celebration for no particular reason.

Supra has rules:

Head of Supra is appointed – Tamada;

He offers themes on which everyone is invited to make a toast (no pressure).

There is a number of obligatory toasts and even their consequence is defined;

Toasts should be as creative as possible, more like novels and poems;

White wine is usually drunk at the traditional Supra. Rarely Vodka and never beer! Singing is part of Georgian Supra, and you will have a chance to hear the finest trio from Guria.

What You’ll Experience

We offer a traditional dinner/lunch menu made by local, trusted products from our village's partner farms. The lunch/dinner will take place on the wide terrace of our 150-year-old house, where a panoramic view of Gomis Mta (Lesser Caucasus Mountains dividing Guria and Adjara) which with some luck usually opens up with blue skies. The terrace, however, provides complete shelter and comfort in the case the sky decides to rain and blankets can also be provided. All our dishes are prepared carefully with love, experience and the lead of our Chef and the eldest member of our family - Meri bebo (Grandma Meri). We offer a selection of salads, seasoned vegetables, meat/vegetarian-friendly dishes, pastry, various local sauces with traditional beverages such as honey vodka and wine from indigenous species. All of which will be completed by a desert. The experienced toastmaster will invite guests to make toasts for family, love, friendship and all that we value in a true Georgian style Supra fashion.
