Truffle Hunting in San Miniato in Tuscany with Tasting

Tuscany, and in particular the countryside enclosed between the medieval villages of San Miniato and Montaione, is the land of origin of the truffle. The harvest of three valuable species of truffle takes place in this area: in spring the maturation of the Bianchetto truffle takes place; black truffle in summer and white truffle in autumn. The particular climatic conditions, the composition of the soil, and the protection of the natural territory make the hills of San Miniato one of the main harvesting sites in the world for the quantity, but above all for the quality of the truffle. This experience will take place in the company of Leonardo and his sweet Lagotti Romagnoli Aki and Roi, who will guide you along the secret paths in the woods in search of the diamond of the earth. There is a whole world around the truffle, partly still unknown even to science, which we will try to discover: how the truffle is born and develops, why it is found in certain areas and in certain periods, why and who are responsible of its aroma. Once the research is completed, a tasting of truffle-based products will be offered and the various applications of truffles in the kitchen will be explained to you.
