Description
The Hikari set introduces seven individual brands of colorful and fragrant aged sake. Each bottle is infused with seasonality and regional character from the time of its brewing, refined through the years. We invite you to dedicate a cup to a bright future with this box set! (1997 Jyosen Kikuzakari / Kikuzakari brewery) 15% alcohol by volume. Smoky flavor characterized by its clean acidity, aroma of caramel and almonds, and spreading sweetness of tropical fruit. (1998 Satonoizumi / Aizu brewery) 19% alcohol by volume. Mellow black tea and gentle hazelnuts mark the nose of this well balanced sake with a long finish. (2009 Maboroshi no taki / Mikunihare brewery) 18% alcohol by volume. An impressive nutty scent rises from this aged sake, whose first impression of refreshing acid is cut by the mellowness of butter and banana. (2001 Tenon / Kawajiri brewery) 20% alcohol by volume. Complex and profound, notes of vanilla, burned matches, chestnut and banana can all be enjoyed. (2009 Hanagaki / Nanbu brewery) 17% alcohol by volume. Junmai with a sweet finish, brewed to express the spiciness of oriental cumin and nutmeg which fill the palette.. (1996 Ichinotani / Uno brewery) 18% alcohol by volume. Japanese pears, caramel, and the spicy bitterness are well-balanced, while maintaining the clean quality of unaged sake and featuring a lingering popcorn taste. (1995 Kamaya / Kamaya brewery) 18% alcohol by volume. A gentle banana fragrance and brilliant floral aroma waft from this junmai sake aged in a 100 year old storage facility.

What do you imagine when you hear the words "Taxi Driver"? Perhaps the classic film? "TAXI DRIVER", a brand launched in 2005 by Takuya Fujimura, the fifth-generation brewer of Iwate Prefecture's Kikuzakari Sake Brewery, was given this name at the suggestion of Yoshiki Takahashi, a designer active in the movie industry. After the brewery was destroyed by the March 11 earthquake, love for the now-famous Taxi Driver brand among sake enthusiasts and layman alike allowed Kikuzakari to rebuild and resume operations.
