What a fantastic experience! Not only did the sushi we made look good, but the flavor was delicious! It was so much fun walking through the market and gathering ingredients and then learning create edible works of art. Ayumi was so kind, patient and knowledgeable. So amazing, thank you to our host Haime who went above and beyond. This vegan option for those who follow the diet, don’t eat raw fish, or want to learn a different way have to try. He went above and beyond to explain everything and invited us to dine in their restaurant for dinner, including making us a vegan dinner. I can’t recommend the class enough and look forward to teaching my family the recipe. Thank you, Haime!

We got very lucky and were the only 2 people who signed up for the day so we basically got a private sushi-making lesson. Hide (the teacher) was very kind, patient, easy to understand English and led a very calm experience class. The quality of the fish was amazing and Hide (pronunciation: He-day) explained what each fish was when it wasn't something classic like tuna or salmon. We loved learning how to make nigiri and teka-maki rolls, and we definitely think we could do it ourselves at home. We even went to an omakase sushi after this lesson and noticed the techniques of the sushi chef and what we learned in this lesson. Also, you don't have to worry about coming away with pictures. Hide will take photos for you throughout the experience and airdrop them before you leave so your cooking experience is sanitary. I think it's a fun, unique and tasty experience for Kyoto! Highly recommend!
