Newcastle JDF Camp, located in the Blue Mountains of Jamaica, has a rich military history dating back to 1841. Established by the British army, it was created as a hill station to provide a cooler, healthier environment for British soldiers who were suffering from tropical diseases in Kingston’s warmer, more humid climate. Positioned at over 4,000 feet above sea level, the camp offers breathtaking views of Kingston and the surrounding mountains. Today, Newcastle serves as a training facility for the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF), maintaining its military significance.
