Culinary Cartography Tours sample and savor the culinary delights a particular neighborhood has to offer. Culinary Cartography Tours run between 1 and 3 miles and involve 5 pre-planned stops for light snacks.


This Culinary Cartography tour begins at Bensonhurst’s Seth Low Park, where travelers will be greeted by their guide with some piquant Korean-Uzbek appetizers before embarking on a journey down the culinary pathways of the Caucasus, delving into Georgian cuisine, sampling a sweet Balkan dessert, savoring some Kyrgyz samsa, and concluding with cannoli from Bensonhurst’s own Villabate Alba bakery.


Designed for individuals and small groups to explore the diversity that makes Bensonhurst one of NYC's most intriguing food destinations, this walking tour is easily accessed by the “D” and “N” trains.

This tour presents CitywalksNYC's signature Culinary Cartography walking food tour of Brooklyn's Bensonhurst neighborhood, hosted by cultural geographer and Bensonhurst resident Jim Baker. Travelers will get to know the history of Bensonhurst as one of New York City's most diverse multiethnic neighborhoods and should expect to taste food from a variety of ethnic cuisines local to the neighborhood, including Koryo-Saram, Georgian, Kosovar, Kyrgyz, and Italian. Past tours have included a sampling of dishes from these culinary traditions, including morchovka (Korean carrot salad), khachapuri, sheqerpare (Albanian butter biscuits soaked in sugar syrup), samsa, and cannoli.
