Guided by your host, you’ll explore the medina’s market, meet the same vendors who supply local households, and learn to cook using family recipes passed down through generations.


The class takes place in a traditional riad, where cooking and dining unfold in the same space locals use every day. You’ll cook over clay tagines, knead fresh bread by hand, and learn the secret balance of spices that defines Moroccan cuisine.


Between steps, your host shares stories about Berber culture, mountain life, and the meaning of food in Moroccan hospitality. This experience offers a direct connection to real Moroccan life, where every aroma, story, and flavor reflects the soul of Chefchaouen.

Begin in the medina, where your host welcomes you and guides you through the narrow blue alleys to the local market. Learn to choose the freshest ingredients, herbs, olives, vegetables, and hand-ground spices, while meeting friendly vendors. Back at a traditional family house, roll up your sleeves and cook together. Prepare an authentic tagine, such as chicken with preserved lemon and olives or lamb with prunes, plus side dishes like zaalouk (smoky eggplant) and Moroccan salad. Taste khobz, the traditional bread, and discover the ritual of mint tea preparation. When the cooking is done, sit down with your hosts to enjoy the meal you’ve created in the courtyard or rooftop terrace, surrounded by the blue glow of the medina and the distant Rif mountains. As you eat, your hosts share family recipes, customs, and stories of Arabo-Berber heritage.
