Finish with eel sauce, Kewpie mayo, wasabi, pickled ginger and roe for extra flavor. With Chef Shelina’s extensive culinary background guiding you, you’ll build practical skills while enjoying a relaxed, social atmosphere where imperfect rolls are part of the fun.

Sushi night gets a hands-on upgrade at a lively D.C. bar, where you’ll learn to roll, slice and build your own sushi from scratch. Start by preparing seasoned sushi rice and practicing simple knife cuts before learning how to handle nori and roll everything neatly without sending fillings flying. You’ll make two rolls: a California roll packed with avocado, surimi and cucumber, plus a fresh veggie roll with mango, avocado and cucumber. Add flavorful finishing touches like eel sauce, Kewpie mayo, wasabi, pickled ginger and roe. Chef Shelina brings more than 20 years of culinary experience, including 11 years as a chef in the D.C. area. The relaxed setting keeps things beginner-friendly, social and fun, with plenty of room to get creative.
