Start Early: Begin your day around 6 am to avoid crowds at Hierve el Agua. The early morning light also adds to the beauty of the natural rock formations and pools. Starting early in the morning is a smart choice for two reasons:


First, you’ll beat the crowds at Hierve el Agua, ensuring a more tranquil experience.

Second, you’ll reduce the risk of encountering rain in the afternoon. If its too early for you after that time every 30 minutes.


Breakfast in the Village: Consider having a local breakfast in the nearby village before heading to Hierve el Agua. It’s a great way to experience the local flavors and start your day off right.

Here, you’ll learn about the traditional production process of mezcal, which includes harvesting agave, cooking it in earthen pits, fermenting, and distilling it using age-old techniques. Maestro mezcalero passionately explains each step, sharing stories of his ancestors and the heritage behind each method. The highlight of the visit is a tasting session, where you can savor the distinct flavors of different mezcal varieties. Learn about the various natural ingredients used to create vibrant dyes. This includes plants, minerals, and insects like the cochineal, which produces a brilliant red dye. Witness the process of harvesting and preparing cochineal insects. You’ll see how these tiny creatures are dried and ground into a fine powder, which is then mixed with other natural substances to create different shades of red, pink, and purple. The family will demonstrate traditional dyeing techniques. You’ll see how yarns Get your hands dirty! You’ll have the opportunity to try dyeing yarn yourself, guided by the experts.
