This experience is suitable for visitors young and old who have a love of avocados, or a desire to connect with local culture and food production in this region.

As you walk through the picturesque orchard, your guide will explain the history of avocados, how they are grown and the various orchard activities, tree and fruit development stages that occur throughout the year. You'll get a chance to pick your own avocado (season dependent). Meet some local native birds that call the orchard home. Watch a live demonstration of the harvesting machine used to pick fruit high in the trees. After the stroll, tantalise your tastebuds with some delicious guacamole and avocado ice cream. A merchandise stand is available for the purchase of avocado-themed items and mementos. By choosing the Gourmet Tour, you’ll experience an avocado-themed tasting event featuring a variety of dishes such as guacamole with chips, avocado and feta on balsamic and caramelized onion crackers, sourdough, and a selection of avocado oils. Delight in avocado mousse, avocado chocolates, and finish with refreshing avocado gelato. Dishes will change from time to time, ensuring a dynamic and exciting experience.

We're easy to find, just 100 meters off State Highway 2 if you are heading from Auckland or Tauranga. Just 5 mins south of Katikati township. Upon arrival please park in the signposted parking area and make your way to the large shed entrance where your guide will meet you.

Avocado practical learning experience

Tim was an excellent guide, with great knowledge of Avocados. This was useful as I have a handful of Avocados. Seeing all the fruit hanging on the trees was awesome. We enjoyed his home made Guacamole dip and chips at the end of the tour. Tim did not rush, which made it relaxing. Bought a bag of Reed avocados as we left.

Last minute surprise…

Did this at the last minute as something to do when our other plans got cancelled. Too late to book online but Tim kindly accommodated us when we called instead. My wife and daughter are a lot more into avocados than I am so had minimal expectations going in but it turned into the most interesting and enjoyable 2 hours I have spent in a long time and capped off with some excellent tastings and some truly exceptional avocado gelato. Would definitely recommend.

Avocado adventure tour

It was a very enjoyable experience . The host was very attentive. We were also given avacado recipes on top of tasting the delicious guacamole and avacado gelato on the spot.
