Öldur is the first and only Meadery in Iceland. We have a good variety of both classic and light meads. Depending on what we have on hand you will get to taste at least three different type of meads. We focus on quality and try to use Icelandic ingredients as often as possible. We recently moved our Meadery from Reykjavík to Hella, so this activity was shut down for a while, but now we are back at a new and better location!

At the beginning of the tour we will have a quick meet and greet where we will introduce you to Öldur and show you where the meadmaking happens. Then we will go over the history of Öldur. During the tour you will get to taste three different types of meads, they will vary depending on the season. At the end of the tour you will be able to sit down with a view of the river where you can finish your mead tasting at your pace.

Great Meadery Tasting in Hella Iceland

My husband and I made a special trip to do this one hour mead tasting. I fell in love with their mead on a previous trip I had in Iceland. This was my first time to their meadery in Hella and our host Agny was amazing. She gave us a rich history of the meadery’s beginning and each sample she provided was amazing. They are also venturing out in beer brewing they is quite good as well. I highly recommend stopping by here during your trip to Iceland. 5 stars!

You have to try this!

Cannot recommend this enough! If you want to try some amazing mead with an awesome guy who has put his heart and soul into his product, this is it!!! Seriously you have to book this! As for me, I will definitely be back!

Time well spent

My husband and I enjoyed our meadery tour at Oldur. Though the meadery is small, we felt our time was well spent. The owner spent well over the allotted time with us and provided some excellent mead to try. I’m looking forward to coming back or when I can purchase the mead in the States.

A lovely, unique, and informative mead tasting.

This was amazing!! This was one of our favorite activities we did in Iceland. It was so quaint and personal. The mead was amazing. Some were carbonated which I've never experienced before and you could actually taste the honey flavor. We learned a lot about the meadery, which is the first and only meadery in Iceland.
