Would you like to visit a well preserved medieval castle in the heart of a beautiful nature reserve? Take this exciting journey into the depths of medieval history to an 11th-century Castle, beautiful Girona city and enjoy an authentic Catalonian meal in an idyllic entourage. Each place is an experience on its own, so 3-great experiences in-1. It has all the ingredients for a memorable tour: Catalonian culture immersion, picturesque natural scenery & breathtaking views, an injection of history and authentic local gastronomy. Plus, a lovely morning hike in the protected Montseny Nature Reserve.

Barcelona

8.30 AM Start of the tour and leaving Barcelona city. Buckle up, relax, and sit back, we´ll take it from here! Hotel pickups will take place between 8:00 and 8:30 (30min approx.) and we'll drive about 60min to get to our first destination

L'Eixample District (Pass By)

On our way out we cross this famous part of the city full of landmarks and beautiful architecture

Hostalric Castle (Pass By)

As we leave the highway we immediately enter the protected nature reserve and a castle landscape. We first encounter the impressive medieval castle of Hostalric, which was connected to the castle that we will visit on this tour. Your guide will give you some background as we drive by it, a nice little introductory taste of local history

Parc Natural del Montseny (Pass By)

After about 1 hour we find ourselves amidst very different surroundings with lots of greenery, mountains, and lovely small villages, this is the Montseny Nature Park. We will start getting a glimpse of our first destination, the Montsoriu Castle, proudly perched on top of the Montsoriu hill

Castle of Montsoriu

09:30 AM We have arrived! Now we´ll have to leave the car at the foot of the Montsoriu hill and start walking. We will climb and conquer this hill just like the knights and warriors did back in the day, our compensation will be grand. This refreshing morning hike will take about 40 minutes and will be a great way to start our day. Once we get to the top we will first be rewarded with views that will take our breath away. So first we take some memorable pictures, and then we take a deep breath of fresh mountain air before we explore all the ins and outs of the castle. (The castle only opens for guided visits on Saturdays and Sundays.) Our castle visit will take about 1 hour and we´ll learn all about the history and archaeology, the region and medieval times in general. This will lay a solid foundation for our tour. Afterwards, it will be an easy walk downhill back to the car...

Arbucies

12:30 PM Lunch: So much history and hiking has woken up our appetite, so get ready to enjoy a real Catalonian meal! After a 30-minute drive through Montseny Nature Park, we arrive at our secret lunch location, just outside the pretty town of Arbúcies we find a unique restaurant located inside a 15th-century old mill that is tucked away in the woods. It´s an authentic & enchanting experience

Girona

3:00 PM After lunch we relax, digest, and enjoy a picturesque drive of about 1 hour as we make our way to the city of Girona. It might be the perfect moment for a little ´siesta´. Girona city is a medieval gem with a very rich history. We will explore the town together during an in-depth walking tour as we dive into 2000 years of history and cover all the main highlights. Later you will have some time on your own for personal exploration or to enjoy a coffee before we head back to Barcelona

6:30 PM (approx.) - After just over an hour's drive we'll be back in Barcelona city. We bring you back to your accommodation and we finish the tour
