The class focuses on preparing a 100% plant-based custard filling and the baking process. The puff pastry is pre-prepared, and you’ll receive an exclusive house-made recipe to recreate it at home, as puff pastry requires several hours to be ready for use. The session also includes a short and accessible introduction to the history of the Pastel de Nata in Portugal, from its origins in Lisbon to its evolution into one of the country’s most famous pastries, with insight into how this traditional recipe can be successfully adapted to a vegan version without losing its essence. Each participant will prepare several vegan Pastéis de Nata, which can be enjoyed on site or taken away. A transport box is included for your pastries. Throughout the workshop, enjoy Port wine, juice, water, coffee, and sweet and savory snacks, in a relaxed and social atmosphere. At the end of the session, you’ll leave with the confidence, and the recipe, to recreate this vegan Portuguese classic at home.

Yummy & fun

Great fun! My friend is allergic to dairy so we did the vegan option which was nice they offered. It was great fun to see the rest of the class making the regular recipe. All of our pastries tasted excellent. Rui & Ana were great instructors. I also loved the handouts either the recipe to take home and the history of how the pastel de nata became famous. Well done.

Highly Recommend

Absolutely loved the Pastel de Nata cooking class! 🥐🇵🇹 It was such a fun and engaging experience from start to finish. The group was lovely, and our teacher was fantastic — so friendly, knowledgeable and made the whole class really enjoyable. I especially loved that it was a small, intimate group, which made it feel really personal and hands-on. We got properly involved rather than just watching, and of course getting to eat the Pastéis de Nata at the end was the perfect bonus! 🤤 Would 100% ...read more

Highly enjoyed!

Really enjoyed this experience, I attended solo and was the only person doing the vegan natas, but the teachers were very friendly and made me feel included. The process was really good to see and of course the natas were delicious! Well stocked drinks as well which was very appreciated and all round wonderful experience.

Changed my Mind

I have never really been a “tour person.” I always thought tours would feel too touristy, rushed, or impersonal. Mar completely changed my mind. She was absolutely amazing—warm, engaging, knowledgeable, and authentic. You could tell she truly loves what she does, and that authenticity made such a difference. Instead of making us feel like tourists being shuffled from place to place, she made us feel completely at home, almost like we were spending the day with a local friend who happened to kno...read more

The best vegan Pastel in Porto

Our instructor was the best (I believe Luis but we were a few minutes late so missed his name)! It was a lot of fun and the Pastels were delicious. Hard to find a vegan class so definitely recommend this if you want to do a vegan one.
