Twenty-five minutes from Amsterdam sits the city the tour buses skip. Come hungry. Utrecht is older than Amsterdam and the locals like it quieter. This is a small-group food walk led by a local guide who knows the people behind the food. A full Dutch lunch, not a handful of snacks. You eat as you go and leave full. Award-winning fried fish and the herring story behind Dutch wealth. A sandwich locals have queued for decades. Real Dutch cheese. A dark chocolate shaped like the tower you just stood under. Beer in a centuries-old hidden church. Fresh Dutch falafel in one of Europe's most vegan-friendly cities. Vegetarian and vegan guests welcome. Between bites come the stories: the only Dutch pope, a church disguised as a mansion, a church that is now a hotel. Easy pace, a 1.5 mile stroll, not a route march. Small groups, twelve at most. Two drinks included. Real bites, real stories, real Utrecht.

This is an easy walk of about 1.5 miles over 3.5 to 4 hours, mostly flat with some cobblestones. Private groups can be adapted for guests with limited mobility, just let us know at booking and we will find a solution. Every tour is tailored to the group's pace and interests.

Best tour ever

Fantastic. The food stops were all wonderful and were a great cross section of the area. The information provided was great. Joeri "s energy was amazing. Definately highly recomend.

Utrecht walking food tour

Skip breakfast and come hungry - and ready to enjoy the beauty and history of Utrecht!

Our guide Joeri met us in front of Dom Tower and we spend the next few hours with him, learning about the city and enjoying some delicious food and drink. We had coffee, Dutch apple pie, all the cheese we cared to try, a delicious sandwich, herring and kibbeling (fried breaded cod), beer and Genever (gin), chocolate, and probably a few other bites along the way. Utrecht food and sites tour.
