Starting at a traditional kazani, delve into the fascinating process of crafting Cretan raki, where grapes ferment and transform into a unique distillate. Wander through a vibrant garden of seasonal vegetables and aromatic herbs, all while soaking in stunning views of the Libyan Sea and nearby Gavdos. Participate in the captivating cheese-making journey at Rakidio, milking goats and creating tyrozouli, a fresh Cretan cheese. Interact with farm animals and explore the rich history of Cretan life at the Folklore Museum. Cap off the day with a generous Cretan meal, featuring the cheese you made, accompanied by house raki and local delicacies. Don’t forget to visit the estate shop for authentic Cretan products to take home.

Lunch

Begin at our traditional copper still (kazani) to learn how Cretan raki and wine are crafted over a wood fire. Stroll through seasonal gardens and aromatic herb paths while taking in panoramic views of the Libyan Sea and the Sellia mountains. Experience farm life by watching the goats being milked and participating in crafting fresh tyrozouli cheese. Taste warm milk and fresh cheese right as they are made, and explore an authentic stone shepherd’s hut (mitato). Meet, pet, and feed our farm animals—including goats, sheep, our donkey, and horse ,while learning about their role in Cretan agricultural tradition. Step back in time through our collection of authentic 19th and 20th-century tools and historical heirlooms from the 1821 Revolution and WWII. Then, visit our smokehouse to see how Cretan apaki is cured with local herbs. Sit down for a rich, hospitality-filled Cretan meal featuring the fresh tyrozouli cheese you helped make, handmade pies, smoked apaki, garden vegetables, olive oil, and abundant house raki. Browse our estate shop for honey, rakomelo, olive oil, and natural soaps to take home.

Lovely farmlife

This was a incredibly wonderful experience. The hostess welcomed us with great warmth. She was smiling all the time. The views of the mountains and the sea below were beautiful. Perfect place!

We’ve travelled to many places around the world, but we’ve never experienced such genuine hospitality and such a warm, family atmosphere as we did at Rakidio. The owners are truly passionate and knowledgeable about what they do. We tasted delicious products, all grown, raised, and produced right on the farm, including amazing homemade raki and delicious cheese. Wunderbar Freundlich und Interessant

Sehr schönes Erlebnis auf der Farm. Es gibt von der Raki bis zur Käse Herstellung sehr viel Interessantes. Die Besitzer sind auch sehr freundlich und man erlebt ein Stück echtes Kreta! Wir können eine Besuch auf der Farm empfehlen.

Prachtige plek, een aanrader

Het leek alsof we in the middle of nowhere beland waren, maar het bleek een prachtige plek. Wat een hartelijke mensen, een mooie grote boerderij en een wijds uitzicht (met veel wind). De rondleiding was erg leuk en divers. Van druiven naar raki, van geitenmelk naar geitenkaas, maar ook de rokerij, het museum en zeker ook alle dieren op de boerderij. Peppa de ezel in het bijzonder.
