Weinladen Draiser Hof - Weingut Baron Knyphausen

We will start our wine adventure by visiting Baron Knyphausen which is a historic family-run winery in Eltville-Erbach, Rheingau, renowned for its terroir-driven Rieslings and elegant Pinot Noirs. A member of the prestigious VDP and fully organic since 2021, the estate cultivates famed vineyards such as Marcobrunn and Hohenrain, crafting wines that reflect centuries of tradition and meticulous care. Visitors can experience its heritage at the picturesque Draiser Hof, home to a wine lounge, shop, and restaurant. While we learn about the winery you will try up to 10 different wines from simple estate wines to Auslese (a selection of wines), sometimes even Trockenbeerenauslese (a selection of wines), ice wine, and even older vintages. This gives you the chance to gain a deeper insight into the diversity of our wines in a fun way.

We will visit this magnificent Schloss Johannisberg, perched above the Rhine in the Rheingau, which is celebrated as the world’s first dedicated Riesling estate, with winemaking at the site dating back to 817 and exclusive Riesling cultivation beginning in 1720. The estates sits on a striking south-facing quartzite hillside—about 50 hectares steeply inclined at 45° with ideal sun exposure along the 50th parallel—yielding exceptional aromatic complexity and precision. Kloster Eberbach, located in the Rheingau near Eltville, is one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval monasteries and a landmark of German wine culture. Founded in 1136 by Cistercian monks, it became one of the largest wine estates in Europe and played a key role in developing viticulture along the Rhine. We had an amazing tour through the picturesque wine region near Mainz that exceeded all expectations. My wife and I had the absolute pleasure of joining Aika for her Romantic Wine Tour to Kloster Eberbach, and it was easily one of the highlights of our entire summer. Aika is not only incredibly kind and welcoming, but also deeply knowledgeable about the Rheingau wine region and German winemaking traditions. Truly romantic experience with best quality wines of Rheingau

The wine tasting tour with visits to several wineries of Rheingau region including the Eberbach Castle was authentic and romantic with beautiful scenery of the vineyards, Rhein river and antient castles. I recommend this experience to singles or couples to taste best Riesling wines selected by skilled organiser of this tour. Castle tour of Eberbach was the most interesting.
