Each guest will receive a bottle of Mamajuana, the Dominican Republic’s beloved local drink, made with rum, red wine, honey, and a mix of native herbs. so fun!

La Cueva Del Pirata is such a gem! Marlin made the best mojito I'll ever have in my life. Adriana had such a bubbly personality as she shared the history and complexity of rum. The environment is cozy, yet the staff make you feel like family. Despite more customers coming in immediately after us, they didn't rush us. We highly recommend visiting this spot!

Amazing experience in Puerto Plata

I had such a great time on this experience! It’s the perfect mix of rum and cigar tasting, fun pirate stories, and discovering Puerto Plata in a really authentic way. A highly recommended experience. We started in a beautiful shop on Calle Duarte, then we enjoyed the history of rum and pirates, tasted rums and learned about Dominican cigars, also toured the city listening to local stories and were presented with a bottle of mamajuana.

Don't go unless you no EXACTLY where meeting place is!

Thoroughly disappointed with this whole experience. We asked multiple people where the location to "meet " was and none of the local people were able to help We tried dialing the number that was listed to help with issues and no one ever answered it. No way to contact tour operator and no recourse when we had an issue. Very poor customer service!

We also did not receive any messages through the Viator chat or our WhatsApp number during that time, which is why we were unfortunately unable to assist you in locating us. Otherwise, our artisans would have been happy to provide you with additional directions to the shop. We would also like to point out that the meeting point provided in the booking details is clearly indicated and located on one of the main and most well-known streets in Puerto Plata (Umbrella Street), which is very familiar to local drivers. That said, we regret that you experienced difficulties finding it, and we will work on improving our instructions for the future. Warm regards
